EDDINS/EDDINGS/EDINS/EDENS on 4 different Census of Anson Co., NC and
Chesterfield Co., SC
I am specifically searching for three EDDINS women as follows:

1.  ANN ELIZA (could be name Ann Elizabeth) BORN C. 1860 AND SISTER OF MARY
     IN # 3 BELOW
.

She is the daughter of Calvin S. EDDINS (son of Nehemiah and Obedience EDDINS) and
Martha (do not know her maiden name, but would love to find that out also). She had
three brothers: Jackson
EDDINS c. 1851; John Wesley EDDINS c. 1857; and William
EDDINS c. 1857 (possibly twin of John Wesley). She had one sister, Mary _______
EDDINS c. 1854 - d. Jan. 21, 1904 (supposedly married a LEWIS and according to one
Census had been married for 20 years).

2.
ELIZA (could also be named Elizabeth - was 3 MONTHS OLD AT THE TIME OF THE
1880 CENSUS). She is the daughter of Mary c. 1854 IN # 3 BELOW. She is one of three
children born to Mary. The other two were James Riley
EDDINS b. Oct. 1878 in Gulledge
Township of Anson County, NC and Fannie
EDDINS b. 1880 according to 1900 Census
(also Gulledge Township). At first, I thought Fannie and Elizabeth were the same child, but
when I found the census where Mary
EDDINS LEWIS had been married for 20 years and
had three living children, I felt that if the Census was correct, Eliza could have been born in
Dec. 1879 or Jan. 1880 and then Fannie was born in November of 1880 as listed on one of
the census'.

3.  MARY is my great grandmother C. 1854 - D. JANUARY 21, 1904, and I would very
much like to find where she was buried and the
LEWIS man to whom she married after
she had two children out of wedlock. I am not sure if she married him before the third
child was born because according to the information on the census, the marriage and the
date of birth of the third child are very close.

Note:  All this information is based on that which I have collected from Census' and
information given to me by my father. I am not sure about the accuracy of the child Eliz.
on the census because I never heard my dad mention an aunt by that name. She could
have died in her 20's or she could have moved away when she was married, and I have
no way of knowing who she married. If she was born in 1880 and my dad was born in
1909, either of these things could have happened.

If anyone has any information on ANY OF THESE NAMES (Mary, Ann Eliza, Eliza) WHO
WERE BORN AROUND THE DATES MENTIONED ABOVE, PLEASE e-mail me at
lail@alltel.net or call me at 704-694-4565.

EDDINS Reunion

Hi Sharon,

I missed you at the EDDINS Reunion at Pine Grove Church today! I thought sure you would
be there!

Have you been able to trace Nehemiah and Obedience any further back?

If Nehemiah was born in North Carolina, it seems to me that we could find an EDDINS
living in North Carolina on the 1790 Census since Nehemiah was not born until 1795, and
we could speculate on that EDDINS being his father. Do you have any speculations on
which EDDINS is his father?

Also, have you combined all the EDDINS information that you have so far?

Did you ever find out any information on Sarah Catherine (sister of Andrew Jackson, Joseph, Calvin, and William S.):

I understand that Charles Purvis is working on William S. and Kathy Morris and I are working on Calvin. She is a descendant of John Wesley and I am a descendant of Mary.
Do you know anyone who is a descendant of the William (c. 1857) which according to
some census is a twin of John Wesley? Do you know if anyone knows who Calvin and
Martha's daughter Ann Eliza married or if something happened to her (maybe she died
young). I am thinking that maybe she died because an older lady who I have spoken with
who lived in the house with Fannie, the daughter of Mary when she was youn said that
Mary only had two children, i.e. James Riley EDDINS and Fannie EDDINS.

I would appreciate it if in you Chesterfield County genealogy work, if you should run
across any of these folks, you would keep me in mind.

For years now, I have been trying to determine where Calvin is buried (he died of small
pox in Virginia in 1862). He wa AWOL but from what I have learned from those who
studied the history of the Civil War, there were many who had heard about the homes of their families getting burned out by the Union soldiers so they left to go home to try to protect their families. I feel much better since I heard that! I did find that he was honorably discharged. Perhaps that is the reason!

Remember, I am trying to find the grave sites of these folks:

Mary EDDINS (or Mary Lewis) c. 1854 d. 1904? (on 1900 Census)
Ann Eliza EDDINS c. 1860 (sister of Mary above) (last found on 1880 Census)
Eliza EDDINS c. 1879 (last found on 1880 Census)
Calvin S. EDDINS c. 1832 (died in Civil War in Virginia) I also wonder if the "S" in Calvin's
name stands for Samuel which might be a hint to grandfather of either Calvin or Martha.
Martha EDDINS c. 1828 (on 1900 Census)
Sarah Catherine c. 1820's or 1830's (daughter of Nehemiah) (Can't find anything on her since I have no date of birth and no married name for her.) This is not to be confused with
the daugther of Joseph C. EDDINS who is the brother of Andrew Jackson, Joseph C.,
Calvin S., and William.

Someone apparently know something about Sara Catherine or else they would not know that
she is the daughter of Nehemiah and Obedience. Where did this information come from? Or do you know?

I know that Kathy Morris is working on John Wesley's family history and I am working on Calvin's daughter Mary. Do you know if anyone is working on Jackson EDDINS, William,
and Ann Eliza (Calvin and Martha's children)?

Again, sorry you were not able to go to the reunion today!

Cindy's little boy is precious!!!!

Blessings and love,

Helen
