Captain George KING and wife, Mary KOLB of Darlington District, SC
Searching for info on the family of Captain George KING and wife, Mary KOLB; daughter
of Johannes KOLB of Society Hill, Darlington District. 1750-1800 Period. There were
evidently 3 George KINGs from this same time period, causing much difficulty and
confusion for folks researching these families and also for DAR applicants. It is believed
by this researcher that the Captain George KING of Darlington served in the SC Militia
during the Rev. War.
1) Captain George KING & Mary KOLB of Darlington/Society Hill.
2) Rev. George KING, Jr. and wife, Sarah HILL of Darlington District, and later in
Alabama <son of above Captain George KING>.
3) George KING and wife, Winnie HILL of Chesterfield District. <not believed to be
connected to the Capt. George KING of Darlington>.
Also searching for info on John KING, Sr., who donated land for the building of the
Darlington County Court House. His will was Recorded 7 July 1818 in Darlington District,
SC. It is thought that John KING, Sr. was the son or younger brother of Captain George
KING of Darlington District. Would greatly appreciate anyone on the Chesterfield or
