| Ron Bryan - 01/05/2003 SMITH, William B. on 1880 census for Cole Hill, Chesterfield, SC I would like any info on this family. William was 57 on 1880 census so would make him born about 1823. His wife, Elizabeth A. was 52 on 1880 census so would have been born about 1828. The youngest child on this census, Doctor SMITH, age 6, was Doctor Flo SMITH who moved to Laurel Hill, Fl and then to Milligan, Fl. One of the boys in the 1880 census moved to Pascagoula, Miss. Sydney SMITH lived in the Chesterfield area and visited up until the 1950's. Would especially like to know if there is a marriage record for William B. and Elizabeth A. to find her maiden name. And would love to know William B.'s or Elizabeth A.'s parents names. Old family hearsay story says that the family name was originally KNIGHT. Said that the parents died and a family named SMITH took-in the children. But we don't know when that happened or if true. Thanks, Ron Bryan bryanr34@cox.net Also: Does the local genealogy society have books for sale such as local cemetery records or marriage records? Are there web-sites with this data listed for Chesterfield County? ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ |
