STEVENS / STEPHENS
I am looking for information on Moab STEVENS / STEPHENS who shows up in census in Chesterfield about 1830 or 1840. We think he may have died in Chesterfield about 1842/43. Documents of the court show he assigned a slave named Timor (Temor) to relatives/children Milly HOUGH and Joshua STEVENS (Chesterfield County) near his death most likely as a simple will. We are trying to determine more about him, Timor and his relatives in Chesterfield County and where and when he may have died. I am willing to pay for copies of documents showing information about him and his relatives. One other name on the documents is Moses HOUGH.
Thanks for any help.

STEVENS / STEPHENS
I am seeking information on Moab STEVENS who was shown in census in Chesterfield in 1830 probably. He came from Lancaster, SC area over to Chesterfield in his later years and probably was living in a daughters household or sons. A daughter was Milley STEVENS HOUGH and son was Joshua STEVENS. Moab according to Chesterfield records willed a slave named Temor (Timor) with love and affection to Joshua STEVENS and Milley HOUGH but Moab retained the slaves use until he died in his will. We are not sure if Moab died in Chesterfield or elsewhere as it appears he may have later gone to Alabama with his son Joshua. However no records in Alabama have been found to show he died there. So he may have died and been buried in Chesterfield. Earlier Moab had served in a NC Militia and this record is in Chesterfield documents also when he applied for a pension there.
We believe that by the time Moab was elderly he had a hard time financially. We think he was related to HOUGH in Chesterfield area via a daughter's marriage to Nathaniel or Moses HOUGH. He had married Dianna WILLIS and after she died Sophia HORTON CATO. Moab outlived his wives. Moab owned land in Lancaster and early in NC. According to early NC documents Moab had siblings named Nickie and Farabe STEVENS, minors when their father died in Johnston (Wake) County NC in 1761. Moab's mother was Patti or Patty UNKNOWN. We highly suspect she was young enough to remarry after her husband Joshua's death.
I would be interested in any wills, estate, court, deeds, etc in Chesterfield area showing Moab and or his family and Temor. I am also interested in sharing any info with related lines such as HOUGH, CATO, etc.
