The exact date of construction of the old Grammer School, which was located on Greene Street, is not known, but it is believed to be around the tuen of the century. An extension was added to the rear of the original building in 1914. It housed all grades until the high school was built on Huger Street in 1923. The Grammer School was torn down in 1964.
