Steamboat "Ohio"

steamboatohio.jpg

The Ohio was one of two steamboats (the other was the Merchant) that began traveling the Pee Dee River between Cheraw and Georgetown in the fall of 1907. The river had not seen riverboat travel since the 1800's, and the river had to be dredged by the government to give clearance for the boats. It is not known exactly when the riverboatd ceased their journeys.
