Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: This was once the house of J. Hervey and Mamie Watson Wright Streater. They did not have any children of their own, but Mamie
had a son, William Sterley Wright, by her first marriage; Sterley died in a hunting accident on Thanksgiving Day. Mamie's parents, H. A. and Siddie Grady Watson,
were their neighbors who lived across what is now North Oak Street. My first recollection of this house was when Kimble and Nelle Hancock Lisenby lived here. I taught several of their children in high school. Their son Steve is the owner of the house today, and he and his wife, Diane Huneycutt Lisenby, reside there. |
