Katherine Ward Rivers Braswell: The house shown above was a white frame home when my parents and I lived there. A portion of the home is shown in the picture below (1936). I am standing in front of the house when I was about three years old. The house was built by Mr. J. Arthur Knight. The brick siding was a much later addition to the house. The Methodist Parsonage was right behind the church when I was a child. We lived across the street. I recall one of the ministers scolded my mother for going out on the porch in her housecoat to get the paper. Mother and Daddy wer married in Clio, SC on April 7, 1931. James McRae went with them as witness. Reverend Langley, who was pastor at Chesterfield Baptist Church before going to Clio married them. They did not tell anyone because my mother was teaching and married women were not permitted t teach at that time. Their marriage was announced after the end of the school year and they moved to this house at that time. My parents lived here from 1931 to 1941. There was a vacant lot on the south side of the house where the Hendrix house stands today. I had a wonderful time playing around the depot which was located at the end of Church Street.

Dr. William Perry: Mrs. Meehan may have lived here or next door. Dr. Frank Henderson lived here at one time. A Mr. Griggs lived here as well as Graydon and Ann Rivers. Mr. W. A. Mackey lived here as well.

Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: Mrs. Katey Harrison lived here after her husband died. Tony Campbell owns the home today.
