Randolph Pusser with 1956 Ford Fairlane
Theodore Randolph Pusser: Henry W. and Mary Etta Whitley Pusser moved to Chesterfield in 1904. They purchased 200 acres of land in the Friendship Church area and a lot on Main Street that same year.
1. According to Henry's obituary, they built the first two story building in Chesterfield to house their dry good business, H. W. Pusser and Sons. His obituary states that the building was later used as a "moving theater". This building was in Mary Etta's estate and was sold to the Roger's when her estate was settled in 1942.
2. In 1906 they purchased 87 acres of land where the family home was built. They would have nine children. In 1942, their son, Ted, would purchase the family home from his mother's estate. He and his family would occupy the home until it was purchased by the family of Rouse Pusser, Henry and Mary Etta's grandson. Rouse and his wife, Dottie continue to live in the home. It is thought this home was built around 1907.
3. Ted Pusser would become the Ford Dealer in Chesterfield. The dealership was located on Main Street, where the library is located today. (a picture showing the dealership is shown at the Main Street address).
4. Ted Pusser, in 1946, would buy the old Peoples Bank and Trust Building from the County Board of Commissioners. The building, I think, was used as the base for the "Home Guard" during WWII. The commissioners sold the building as surplus property. Dad would resign the Ford Franchise and open Quality Auto Parts in that location.
