Dr. William Perry: This was the site of the Boss Sellers Gin. Mr. Charlie Rivers bought the gin after the gin on the Rivers farm burned. His office was located across the street. Calvin took over the business and ran the gin in the 50’s.

James W. Jenkins: My recollection of picking and ginning cotton was with a burlap sack, by hand, hot and dirty, low wages, and little payoff. Since we lived across the street from both gins, I watched with interest during the ginning season as the beehive of activity that was associtated with the ginning process. It included mules and wagons, trucks, tractors, strong men, giant vacuums and presses, cotton lint, cotton seed, tempting play sites, and always a lurking danger of fires.
