Katherine Ward Rivers Braswell: The WPA office was located downstairs in this building. The Malloy family lived upstairs. Mrs. Annie Malloy worked there and later she worked for Dr. Turner, a local dentist. The small building at the end of the building was used for buying chickens which were shipped by rail.
Dr. William Perry: This building was built in 1909 by J. A. Streater and John T. Hurst. The building housed the Farmer's Bank, Chevrolet Dealer, general merchandise store, and other businesses. The upstairs was used as a Bed and Breakfast. My Grandfather died at age 39 and my Grandmother ran the Bed and Breakfast. Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: I recall that a cannery operated in this building at one time. Plume and I lived here after we were married. We moved to our home in Chester Park when we left Welsh Apartments. |
