Stanley Ratliff House |
Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers and James W. Jenkins: Stanley and Mildred Leaird Ratliff built this house in 1956. He operated a radio and TV repair shop on Main Street next to Walter Davis's barber shop. In the early 60's Glenn Craig Rivers joined him in the business. Glenn later became the sole owner and moved the business to the old Craig & Co. building on West Main Street. Stanley became Supervisor of Maintenance at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw, from which he retired. Mildred worked for many years in the office at the Perry Clinic on West Boulevard. She was the half-sister of Leoda Leaird Davis, who lived next door, and the niece of Jim Grant, who was once Mayor of Chesterfield. Her mother was his sister. Stanley' sister, Dorothy Ratliff, was a well--respected English Teacher and guidance counselor at Chesterfield High School, and another sister, Gloria Ratliff Vernon, was Secretary to the Principal at Chesterfield High School |
