James W. Jenkins: Marion and I bought this house as it was being finished. We had, like many young couples in Chesterfield, been living at the Welsh Apartments, and we were glad to have our first house. I was a teacher and coach at Chesterfield High School at the time. Both of our children, Cheryl and Steve were born while we lived here. The yard had a big pecan tree on the corner and it was very fruitful. The highway later claimed that area to widen the road. We sold the house to Richard and Phyllis Tarlton when we left Chesterfield in 1965. They have made a number of additions and improvements to the home.
