Dr. William Perry: Dr. William and Ruth Perry built this house in 1945 on property bought from Calvin Rivers. In 1942 Dr. Perry and Mr. Rivers shook hands on the deal to sell the property. Mr. Rivers said,"I will tell Lib I sold you the property." Dr. William said, "I will tell Ruth that I bought the property." Three years later, Dr. William called Calvin and said, "I am ready to get that property." Mr. Rivers said, "Get it surveyed and I will draw up a deed." Not a tree was cut or a stone turned over during the three years since the oral agreement had been made. Such was the kind of contract that existed between friends in those days.
