Dr. William Perry: John McLeod had a sawmill operation at this location in the 30's and 40's well before the Teal Wood Shop began a sawing operation (in the 60's). Mr. McLeod operated a grocery store in town and he bought a veneer mill in Wadesboro, NC. He acquired a very large inventory of land for timber, pasture and later for peaches. The entrance to his sawmill was almost directly across from the drive to our home.
