James W. Jenkins: Mr. Kirby and Annie Jane Dorman Melton lived here. Mr. Melton was Postmaster for a number of years. He also served as mayor of Chesterfield. They had two children, Gene and Jacqueline. Annie had a brother, Lonnie Dorman who worked at Belk's. After Mr. Melton's death, Annie married Smilie Hancock. |
