James W. Jenkins : Mr. John White lived here for many years. He was employed by the Highway Department. Mr. John had two brothers, Fred who lived on Green Street and Thurman, who lived next door (that house has been torn down). I bought my first automobile from Mr. John White (see photo below). I had my father get the car (1949 Chevrolet) as I was returning from Korea in 1957. I drove it to Newberry College for a year. |
