Dr. William Perry: Mr. Will Porter, who ran the livery stable uptown, lived at this site but not in this house. Mr. Porter ran the livery stable that Ed Stephenson purchased. Mr. Porter had three children: Lib, Gene, and Rufus, who was in my class in high school.
James W. Jenkins: Rembert Jones built this house, and his wife, Leba Douglas Jones, continues to live here. Elizabeth Ann Gaddy Rivers: Before the Welborn Pussers lived next door at 309 East Main Street, they lived in a house that once stood on this lot. Welborn had moved here with his family, the H. W. Pusser family, from New Salem in North Carolina. He married Tulia Griggs and they had five children: Jack, Robert, Hugh, Lloyd ("Pop"), and Myrle. |
