Tiller House Site

Katherine Ward Rivers Braswell: Mr. Will Tiller (sister to Louise Laney, Mrs. George Laney) was married to Laura McRae (sister of Flora McRae Rivers and aunt of Delle Ratcliff Rivers.) Laura was the mother of Thomas Lucas Tiller and Sara Tiller Bird (Tom and Sara were twins). Laura died while the twins were young and Mr. Will married Miss Stella Mims, who worked as a Clemson Home Demonstration Agent. I think Mr. Will may have been the Clemson Extension Agent at that time. "Miss Stella" was president of the WMU for years and years.

James W. Jenkins: I recall that Tom Tiller lived here at one time. The house may have belonged to his parents. I recall large magnolia trees on each side of the house.

Theodore Randolph Pusser: The one thing I recall about Mrs. Tiller was that she would back the car into the street and the gears would grind and gnash the entire time.
