Mt. Tabor Church
  James W. Jenkins:
Mt. Tabor Methodist Church was established in 1878. The Church appears to face away from the road, but when the church was built, it faced Main Street and there were no buildings obscuring the view to the street. The By-Pass was developed much later in the life of the church. The Church actually set on the main road from Wadesboro to Camden (the road (called Highway 85 came up Mill Street and turned right on Main Street and then turned left on Academy Street located on the west side of Mt. Tabor Church. The street continued across Indian Creek and ran behind what was later, Smiley Hancock's home.
