  Westfield Baptist Church:
By Carol Lee Hall

Westfield Creek Baptist Church was organized in 1893 with 24 members who came from Pine Grove Baptist Church. The first meeting place of the church was located beyond Gregory White’s house off the right side of the road at a location called “The Acre Field.” The church moved to this approximate location and was called “Slab’s Fair.” This church burned. Miss Mary Short gave the first two acres of land and the rights to the spring. Mr. J. A. Eddins was the church’s pastor. Mr. Ervin White became the first Sunday School Superintendent. The present church building was erected in 1911. In the 50’s and 60’s major renovations brought the church to its present appearance. The Sunday School Department and the steeple were added in the 60’s. In 1969 the parsonage was constructed. In 1970 the church pews were padded and the Memorial stain glass windows were installed in 1972. In 1977 a new piano was purchased for the sanctuary. The 1980’s were a time of renovation and restoration for the church. In 1982 the baptistery was installed in the Fellowship Hall. A new heating and air-conditioning system was added in 1987. The church debt was paid off in 1988 and a new sign was erected. In 1989 a new Hammond Organ was installed. New siding was installed on the church and Sunday School Department in 1991. The church remodeled the Sunday School Department in 1993.
