Age 16 he entered the American Revolutionary Army as a Lt. under Captain
John Watts and Marshall.
Fought at Ratcliffe's Old Field, battles of Parker's Ferry and Eutaw Springs.
Records found at the Court House in Camden, Kershaw County, S.C., states
that a Charles Raley married Sarah Owen on November 5, 1789. (Batch #
7611804-90; Patron Sheet 1,058,396). living in Morgan Co., Ala. applied
for a pension as a rev. soldier in 1832. He testified that he was born
in Onslow Co., N.C. and served as a private with the S.C. forces. His
wife was Sarah Owens born in S.C. He further testified that he served
in a company in which his cousin, also Charles Raley was a lieutenant.

married James (Jim) Shuemake. I might point out that I verified the names
listed below from a family Bible that was 104 years old at the time I
viewed it.The following descendants are those
of John's first marriage to Levina Stroud. You will note that
the numbering of the children are out of order. The persons who posted
this geneology on the internet had listed John and Martha Adams Mosley
first, therefore they began their numbering with the first child of the
second marriage. Please keep this in mind when
