Knight Diary

Aaron Weaver Knight was the son of Richard Knight and grandson of Rev. Aaron Knight, the founder of Fork Creek Methodist Church, which is said to be the first Methodist Church in the state of South Carolina.  He was born July 15, 1810 in Chesterfield District, South Carolina; married Winifred E. Horton (June 29, 1910-Augut 26-1882, daughter of John Horton and Elizabeth Stanley) and he died July 8, 1886.  They were the parents of nine children: James R. Knight, married Mary A. Raley; John Alexander Knight, married Margaret J. Raley; Welliford H. Knight; Elizabeth Jane Knight; William Henry Knight, married Eleanor Clark; Charlotte H. Knight, married Archibald A. Campbell; Sidney Taylor Knight, married Rebecca J. Catoe; Mary Malissa Knight, married William A. Clark; and Winiford Emmaline Knight, married Julius A. Seegars.  Aaron Weaver Knight lived in the area of Jefferson and Angelus, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.  Due to the destruction of Chesterfield County records prior to 1865, his diary, which was continued after his death, has been one of our greatest sources of genealogical information of that area.
